Libraries are the backbone of any organization. In academic environment, the library is called “Heart of the organisation”. The success of an academic organisation mainly depends on the services and information provided by its library.

This volume is a collection of papers presented at the conference based on the themeExcellence in Academic Libraries: Vision for Future,which is very vibrant because users now-a-days are showing very matured approach and the queries cannot be answered without excellence. Libraries are passing through a phase of transformation from traditional libraries to high tech information centers and Library staff is supposed to be well versed with all latest information communication technology tools and must have the capability to know the user requirements.

The papers included in this volume are related to Information Communication Technology (ICT) and libraries, Library Management System (LMS), digital libraries initiatives, content and knowledge management, e-resources management, resource sharing among libraries for achieving excellence, marketing of library and information science products, security issues, social networking sites, emerging technologies and their impact, best practices of library services, cloud computing applications, human resource management, best practices of management of electronic resources, and role of governments in LIS development at national and international scenario etc. This book is small effort to give the librarians and information experts, the knowledge of latest advancements to make their professional life much better by implementing these ideas in their working.

Deepak Sharmacurrently working as Librarian in ITM University, Gurgaon, has over nine years of experience in various organizations. He has completed his Masters of Library and Information Science from Kurukshetra University and currently pursuing Ph.D from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He has attended many conferences of national and international level and has five conference publications to his credit. Earlier, he has organised a national conference onEmerging Trends of IT and Management in Libraries: Issues and Challengesat KIIT Group of Institutions, Gurgaon in October 2009. His interest areas are ICT and Libraries and Marketing of Library and Information Science products. He is the life member of Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) and Haryana Library Association (HLA).
