Recalling the Forgotten: Education and Moral Quest

At a time when there is massive commodification of education, and the rationale of the market colonizes the domain of learning, the book emerges as a refreshing departure. It raises critical questions, pleads for a reflexive pedagogy, and seeks to relate deeper moral/philosophic issues to the culture of learning. From school education to higher learning it throws light on classification and dissemination of knowledges, texts and practices, and pedagogic interventions and creative possibilities. With philosophic contemplation, dialogic interaction and sociological reflection it visualizes a culture of learning capable of contributing to the making of a spiritually elevated/ecologically sensitive/egalitarian society.
